Azza el-Hassan

 
 

Azza El-Hassan's work has been produced and shown by various international TVnetworks such as BBC, arte, YLE, ARD and many others. It has also been screened in film festivals and art venues around the world like, Yamamgata Documentary FilmFestival (Japan), International Film Festival IDFA (Holland), Lipzic (Germany)and many others.

 

El-Hassan is the winner of the 2006 Luchino Visconti Award - the Silver Hydrangea“Mediterranean Sensibilities,"; the 2002 Grierson Award for Best New Comer (TheBritish Documentaries Awards, BBC); and the 2001 Jury Award (Arab ScreenIndependent Film Festival/ Documentary and Short Films) Al-Jazeera Channel,Qatar.
She has been a member of a Jury at several art and film events such as Docudays documentary film festival 2006, Amnesty International Doen Award and the International Documentary Film Festival IDFA, Holland 2002, the DigitalArt Unesco competition, Japan 2003.

She is currently developing her first fiction feature film which it’s script “MusicalChairs” has so far received, the 2010 Torino film Lab production award the2009 development award at the Berlinale Talent Co-Production Market and the 2008Carthage Film Festival script award.
Azza El-Hassan holds an MA in Television Documentary, from GoldSmithsCollege, University of London (1995) and a BA in Film and Television Studies andSociology from Glasgow University, Scotland (1994).
