The Center for Palestine Studies (CPS) at Columbia is proud to launch, in conjunction with the Institute for Palestine Studies in Ramallah, the archives of this forgotten gem over a century after its birth in Jerusalem.
CPS makes almost forty village memorial books available to the public. Compiled as documentary histories and based on the accounts of those who remember the villages depopulated and largely destroyed in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, these books are presented as dossiers of evidence that these villages existed and were more than just "a place once on a map."
This series of anonymous portraits, by Haifa-based photographer Jenny Nyman, captures the reality of the many thousands of Palestinian families who are forced to live in the shadows by the Israeli Citizenship Law.
Adalah and the CPS are pleased to announce the launch of The Nakba Files, a new website that will serve as an online space for researchers and practitioners to explore new approaches to law in Israel/Palestine.
The Maps and Cartography section contains two kind of documents: original maps of Jerusalem reproduced here as a tool for researchers, and links to existing sets of Jerusalem maps—both historical and contemporary.
